Hi @rtg43,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP DeskJet Plus 4100 All-in-One series printer is able to print but not scan over Wi-Fi on a Windows 10 (64-bit) system, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting Guide

1. Check Network Connection

Ensure that both your computer and printer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

2. Restart Devices

  • Restart your printer and your computer to refresh the connection.
  • Unplug your printer for a minute and then plug it back in.

3. Update Printer Software and Drivers Software and Drivers for HP DeskJet Plus 4100 All-in-One series

Ensure you have the latest drivers and software for your HP DeskJet Plus 4100 series:

  • Go to the HP Support Page.
  • Enter your printer model (HP DeskJet Plus 4100) and download the latest drivers and software.
  • Install the software and restart your computer.

4. Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor HP Print and Scan Doctor

HP provides a utility called HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose and fix common problems:

  • Download the HP Print and Scan Doctor.
  • Run the utility and follow the on-screen instructions.

5. Check Windows Services

Ensure that the necessary Windows services are running:

  • Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  • Locate and ensure that the following services are running:
    • Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)
    • Shell Hardware Detection
    • Remote Procedure Call (RPC)

6. Check Firewall Settings

Your firewall or antivirus might be blocking the scanner:

  • Open your firewall settings and allow the necessary HP scanner software through the firewall.
  • Add exceptions for HP scanning software in your antivirus program.

7. Use the HP Smart App

Try using the HP Smart app to scan:

  • Download and install the HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store.
  • Open the app and add your printer, then try scanning through the app.

8. Check for Scanner in Devices and Printers

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Make sure your printer is listed. If it is, right-click on the printer icon and select Start Scan.

9. Reinstall Printer

As a last resort, you can try uninstalling and reinstalling your printer:

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click on your printer and select Remove device.
  • Go to Settings > Apps, find HP printer software, and uninstall it.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Reinstall the printer using the latest drivers from the HP website.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
