When I try to manually do it, its say to add EMAIL where does it want me to put my email?. This is my 4th printer in 40 years and I have never had this much trouble to scan. Plus, I tried to add an hp app to my phone and they  ALL want me to put in a credit card, (why do they need a credit card?)....All I want to do is scan without having to use my computer , I want to walk to the printer and Press SCAN, and it works,I'm about to pull out my hair please help

Hi @JA-JA,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I totally get how frustrating this must be! You just want to walk up to your HP Smart Tank 7602, press Scan, and have it work, no apps, no credit cards, just simple scanning. Let's fix this.

First, if your printer is asking for an email, it’s likely set to "Scan to Email" mode instead of "Scan to Computer" or "Scan to USB." Here’s how to change that:

Option 1: Scan to Computer On the Printer Control Panel, tap Scan. If you don’t see your computer as an option, go to your computer and open the HP Smart app. Click Printer Settings > Scan Settings > Manage Scan to Computer, and turn Scan to Computer ON. Now, go back to the printer and try scanning again.

Option 2: Scan to USB Drive Insert a USB Flash Drive into the printer’s USB port. On the Printer Control Panel, tap Scan > Scan to USB. Choose the Document Type and File Format (PDF, JPEG, etc.), and press Start. The scanned file will save directly to your USB.

Option 3: Scan to Email If you want to scan directly to email, you need to set it up first. On the Printer Control Panel, go to Scan > Scan to Email. It will ask you to add an email address. If it doesn’t give you an option, set it up from the HP Smart app on your computer. Go to Advanced Settings > Scan to Email and enter your email. Once set up, you can scan directly to your email without using a computer.

As for why HP might be asking for a credit card, it’s possible you're on a paid subscription page for HP Instant Ink or HP+ Smart Features. You don’t need these for scanning. Just skip or close that page, or use the free HP Smart app from the official HP website.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you need any more assistance. 😊
