In scanning a document, pdf is not a file type option.  How can I add the pdf file type?

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

 

Here are the informations "How to Scan (Windows)".

But I think you need  "HP Officejet 5740 e-All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Drivers".
