Welcome to HP Community
Are you able to make Photocopies?
I suggest you uninstall the printer driver from root level and download the full feature software
1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’
6.) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
8.) Click on the “Drivers” tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
13.) Restart the computer and download the Full Feature Software from Here and follow the onscreen Instructions

Are you able to make Photocopies?
Update the Firmware and perform a visual test of the scanner bar and light for mechanical issues.
-
Remove any original documents or photos from the scanner glass.
-
Lift the scanner lid slightly, and then press the Copy button or icon.
If the scanner light does not move or illuminate, the scanner mechanism requires servicing
If Photocopies work fine, download and use the HP Smart App to Scan and let me know how it goes. You can download the HP Smart App from this Link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/hp-smart/9wzdncrfhwlh?activetab=pivot:overviewtab

System:
HP Slimline Desktop
Logitech wireless keyboard/mouse
HP MFP M127fw
DSL modem
Photocopier:
Works fine, I use it frequently.
Printer:
I am able to print from Works and Foxit Reader (PDF) without a problem. Mostly just a few pages at a time.
When printing from the Web with MS Edge, I sometime get a “did not connect message” I now make this to be the same problem.
Scanner:
I am able to scan as long as the communication link is maintained.
When the link fails the scan stops or will not start, and the MFP may reinitialize its self, or just freeze.
I have both HP Smart and the HP Scan Doctor on my cpu.
I could not find anything to do in HP Smart to help me.
When I run the scan doctor it always displays a “some issues were found and fixed with your product” msg. ??
I believe that most people rarely if ever use the scanner, and then for just a couple of pages. A failure is easy to ignore, I did.
For larger files you can save the pages you have scaned but you cannot continue. You have to start over.
Cannot be ignored. Very frustrating.

Since the printer loses connectivity and scan keeps failing, I suggest you assign a Manual IP Address and check if it helps
1) Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can print a wireless network configuration page to obtain the IP Address
2) Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
3) Go to "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings.
4) Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
5) Click Manual IP
6) If you see a Suggest a Manual IP Address button, click Manual IP address, and the Manual IP addresses are automatically filled out for you.
7) If your page does not have a button to suggest a manual IP address, type the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway using the numbers shown in the report you printed.
Try scanning and check if that helps

Check Windows Image Acquisition settings
Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) is a Windows service that helps communication between the computer and scanners. If WIA is not activated, scan jobs can fail.
-
In Windows, search for and open View local services.
-
In the Services window, scroll down the list and find Windows Image Acquisition (WIA).
-
Look at the Status and Startup Type values.
-
If the status is Started or Running and the Startup Type is Automatic, WIA is running correctly. Skip to the next step.
-
If the status is Disabled or no status displays, right-click Windows Image Acquisition (WIA), click Properties, click the General tab, select Automatic from the Startup type dropdown menu, and then click Start.
If the Start button is grayed out, go back to the Services menu, make sure Remote Procedure Call, Shell Hardware Detection, RPC Endpoint Mapper, and DCOM Server Process Launcher are running and set as Automatic, and then start WIA.
-
-
Try to scan.
Run Windows Update
To check for updates now, select the Start button, and then go to Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and select Check for updates.
