Same issue with Officejet 6500 AIO on a dell inspiron running windows 7. This workaround worked a treat. Thanks. But should not HP fix this in the driver bundles? At least I now have intel's latest USB drivers since the error message prompted me to install them ...
Cheers,

Deleting or renaming USBReady.exe is not a solution that always works. With the latest software from the HP web site, the USBReady program is installed and ran during the installation, prohibiting you from deleting it before it crashes the installation.
HP software engineers have out-foxed us again and made perfectly good and relative new printers obsolete & non-functional through bugging their software.
This USBReady has been a very well documented problem, and instead of fixing it, HP just took away the work around solution.

I dont normally go through the long registration process it takes just to leave a comment. But you sir are very smart. I was racking my brain muscles for some time on this. This was the solutions. To ideally bypass the dumb usb exe file. Genius.
Thank you Sir!!!!
