Installed HP software for printer Officejet 6978. I did not activate fax function, however, it opens and interrupts all print functions. If fax is cancelled all prints are also cancelled. The question is how can the fax function be disabled or made secondary to the print function?

@pearsek, welcome to HP Support Community!
To be able to provide you with an accurate solution, I would like to know the following:
Is there any error you get while printing?
Could you elaborate on - If fax is canceled all prints are also canceled?
Run our HP Print and Scan Doctor diagnostic tool to automatically resolve printing issues. This tool for Windows will detect, diagnose and fix problems fast!
Keep me posted.
Cheers 🙂

Print and Fax are two different functions and with two separate drivers. The installation software put both on the system, one named HP Officejet 6900 Printer and the other HP Officejet 6900 Fax. You probably selected the Fax driver for print by mistake.
If you will not use the fax capability, simply delete (remove) the printer with "Fax" in name (and right mouse on the printer and amke it the default printer, if not already).
