HP Officejet Pro 8710 scanning program will not work with Apple Sequoia 15.3 update. Is there a new driver available to make this work? At this point, printing documents from the computer to the HP printer works.

Hi @penlady,

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It appears that after updating to macOS Sequoia 15.3, the scanning functionality of your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 has been disrupted, while printing remains unaffected. This issue is likely due to compatibility challenges between the printer's existing drivers and the latest macOS update.

Potential Solutions:

Update or Reinstall HP Drivers:

  • Visit the HP Support website to check for any driver updates compatible with macOS Sequoia 15.3.
  • If available, download and install the latest drivers.
  • If no new drivers are available, consider reinstalling the current drivers to ensure they are properly configured.

Utilize macOS Built-in Scanning Feature:

  • Navigate to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  • Select your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 from the list.
  • Click on Open Scanner to access the scanning interface.
  • This method leverages macOS's native scanning capabilities, which may function despite driver incompatibilities.

Check for Security & Privacy Permissions:

  • Go to System Settings > Security & Privacy > Privacy tab.
  • Select Full Disk Access and ensure that applications like HP Device Monitor, HP Scanner 3, and HP Utility have the necessary permissions.
  • If they are not listed, add them manually to grant the required access.

Switch to AirPrint:

  • In System Settings > Printers & Scanners, select your printer and click on Options & Supplies.
  • Choose the AirPrint driver instead of the HP-specific driver.
  • AirPrint is Apple's built-in printing technology and may offer better compatibility with newer macOS versions.
