Hi @ronygrace,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP OfficeJet Pro 9013 is indicating that there's a document stuck in the document feeder when there isn't, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue:

  • Power Cycle: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a few minutes before plugging it back in and turning it on again. Sometimes, a simple power cycle can resolve temporary glitches.
  • Clear any visible obstructions: Even if you can't see any paper or debris, it's worth checking the document feeder area thoroughly. Use a flashlight to inspect the feeder rollers and remove any visible obstructions carefully.
  • Clean the document feeder rollers: Dust and debris on the rollers can cause false paper jam errors. Use a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water to gently clean the rollers. Avoid using alcohol or other harsh chemicals.
  • Reset the printer: Perform a reset on your printer to clear any temporary errors. The method for resetting your specific printer model may vary, so refer to the user manual
  • Update firmware: Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. Sometimes, firmware updates include bug fixes that can resolve issues like false paper jam errors. You can usually update the firmware through the printer's control panel or HP's website. Update the firmware on an HP printer
  • Check for sensor issues: There might be a sensor in the document feeder that's malfunctioning and causing the false error message. If none of the above steps work, it's possible that the sensor may need to be checked or replaced by a technician.
