I need to do duplex scanning using color laser jet pro MFP M283fdw

Welcome to HP Support Community.  


Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

 

  • Place the document face-down on the scanner glass with the upper-left corner of the page in the upper-left corner of the glass. Close the scanner.
  • From the Home screen on the product control panel, touch the Copy button.
  • Touch the Settings button.
  • Scroll to and touch the Two-Sided button.
  • Swipe through the options, and then touch an option to select it.
  • Touch the Black or Color button to start copying.
  • The product prompts you to load the next original document. Place it on the glass, and then touch the OK button.
  • Repeat this process until you have scanned the last page. Touch the Done button to finish printing the copies.

The HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw Document feeder (ADF) only scans single sided. For a 2 sided document scan, you would need to reload the document to scan the 2nd side.

 

This resource (example) shows how to do that with another printer that's ADF is also single-sided with Mopria Scan:
