Let me take a moment to thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums. 

 

I understand that you have a new Win10 computer and would like to have the scanner icon on the computer. I read that you're using the HP Officejet 6700 Premium e-All-in-One Printer. I'll surely help you with this case.

 

To provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details: 

  • Have you already installed the drivers for the printer? If not, then here is the link to download and install the correct Win10 drivers.
  • If the drivers are already installed then is the scanning working otherwise?

Usually, once the printer drivers are installed, you see a printer utility icon on the screen. Opening the icon will provide an option to scan.

There are other apps that you may install on your Win10 PC that will be useful for scanning as well. 

  • Please download and install the HP Scan and Capture app. This is a dedicated all developed by HP to work with Win8 and Win10 operating systems.
  • Alternately, you could use the Windows Scan app.

Kindly assist me to on how to get a scanner icon on my desktop. I have new machine and printer. Both HP machines.

 I am certain that the printer is installed on the pc as i am able to print. What i need is to scan with same
