Hi @pettsy,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are trying to connect your HP OfficeJet Pro 8130e to your computer, follow these steps:
1. Prepare the Printer
- Ensure the printer is powered on and has paper and ink/toner installed.
- Connect the printer to a power source.
2. Connect to Your Network
Wi-Fi Connection:
On the Printer:
- Use the printer's control panel to navigate to Settings > Network Setup > Wireless Settings.
- Select Wireless Setup Wizard and follow the instructions to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
- Enter your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password.
Confirm Connection:
- Print a Wireless Test Report from the printer's control panel to ensure it is connected to the network.
USB Connection:
- Plug one end of a USB cable into the printer and the other into your computer.
3. Install Printer Software
Using HP Smart App:
- Download the HP Smart app from the HP printer setup (HP Smart app) HP website, or your app store.
- Open the HP Smart app and log in or create an HP account.
- Click Add Printer and follow the on-screen instructions to detect and connect the printer.
Using HP Easy Start:vHP Easy Start Software and Driver Downloads
- Download and run HP Easy Start from HP’s official support site.
- Select your printer model and follow the prompts to install drivers and connect.
4. Verify the Connection
- Open the Devices and Printers section on your computer (Windows: via Control Panel, macOS: via System Preferences).
- Ensure your printer appears as Ready.
5. Test Printing
- Open any document and select Print.
- Choose the HP OfficeJet Pro 8130e from the list and try printing to confirm the connection.
I hope this helps.

Good morning. The power on our block went out on February 27, 2025. I did not know it until I came home and the microwave was flashing "00:00" and I could not get internet on my Philips Google TV. Now, I still cannot get internet on my TV but my HP OfficeJet Pro 8130e series is no longer connected to my HP printer. Please help. I am in school and need to desperately to print assignments. Thanking you in advance. . .
