Hi @Victoria225,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To scan to your computer with the HP LaserJet MFP M140w Printer, you can follow these steps.

Ensure your printer is connected to your computer:

  • Make sure the printer is connected to your computer via USB or Wi-Fi (depending on your setup).
  • Ensure that the printer is powered on.

Install HP Smart or HP Scan Software:

  • If you haven't already, download and install the HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store (Windows) or HP's official website.
  • Alternatively, you can use the Windows Scan app if you prefer not to use HP Smart.

Open HP Smart or HP Scan:

  • For HP Smart: Open the HP Smart app on your computer.
    • Select your HP LaserJet MFP M140w from the list of printers.
    • Click the Scan tile, and it will open a scanning interface.
  • For Windows Scan:
    • Open the Windows Scan app from the Start Menu.
    • Select your printer from the list of available devices.
    • Adjust your settings (e.g., resolution, color) and click Scan.

Start the scan:

  • Place the document you want to scan on the scanner bed.
  • In HP Smart or Windows Scan, choose the type of scan you want (e.g., color, black & white) and click the Scan button to begin.

Save the scanned document:

  • After scanning, you can preview the result and save it in your desired format (PDF, JPEG, etc.).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
