how to customise scan area on a hp smart tank 7005

On my epson scanner I could specify the scan area I required (customise) 

On the hp 7005 there are only limited options, and no customise.

Is there any way around this? or should I wait for a product update??

The hardware is aware of the mechanics -- that is, the printer is built with certain scan specifications.

• What you can do is controlled within the applications and software used to scan the content.
• The available apps and software are determined by the Operating System / version.
• The Operating System / version is a product of the type of device (computer, tablet, phone).

What else?

After the content is scanned, and before it is printed / saved / shared, the scanned content can be cropped to change the captured content and / or the shape of the scan.
