remove black vertical lines when copying.  i have searched this issue. seems to be plenty complaints with no way of fixing it. i have cleaned and recleaned every glass. its not that it is seems to be with the optical scanner or something else inside machine.  Apparently numbers of people have this issue. sounds to be a flaw on this model machine. has anything been done or steps that can correct this issue?

Over the years I have seen many cases where users have cleaned the machine but miss even very fine bits that are nearly invisible to the naked eye. You can test whether there is a problem with the scanner or if it is dirt on the glass by making a copy off the flatbed and a copy through the ADF. If you only get the lines when using the ADF then you need to look at the glass closer. Keep in mind that fine scratches will deflect light and defects as well that is something else to look for. Have you laid the defect page face up on the flatbed to see where the lines are occurring so you can check those areas closer?
