HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 All-in-One Printer
macOS 12.0 Monterey

Since support isn't available (again) I want to know how to set up my wireless printer to scan directly to my computer without going thru the HP smart online control system. I print and scan. period. I don't want to have to sign in and go online everytime I need to do a job. HP doesn't need to know about or control my business, personal or otherwise. I need specific directions on how to get my printer to scan thru a button on my computer NOT hp smart. Hopefully there is someone in this million person pool who knows how to do that for their grandmother.

Hi @fraudaleart,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To scan directly from your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 All-in-One Printer to your computer without using the HP Smart app, you can set up scanning using the printer’s built-in software or the Windows Fax and Scan application. Here’s how to do it.

Using Windows Fax and Scan (Windows):

Connect Your Printer:

  • Ensure your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 is connected to your computer via Wi-Fi or USB.

Install the Printer Drivers:

  • Make sure you have the latest drivers installed. You can download them from HP’s support website.

Open Windows Fax and Scan:

  • Press Win + S to open the search bar.
  • Type “Windows Fax and Scan” and press Enter.

Set Up the Scan:

  • In Windows Fax and Scan, click on “New Scan” at the top-left corner.
  • Choose your printer from the list of available scanners.
  • Select the type of scan you want (e.g., color, black & white) and the document type (e.g., photo, document).
  • Click on “Preview” to see how your scan will look.

Scan Your Document:

  • Click “Scan” to start scanning.
  • Once finished, the scanned document will appear in Windows Fax and Scan, where you can save or edit it.

Using HP Scanner Software:

Open HP Scan Software:

  • If you have the HP Scan software installed, open it. You can find it by searching “HP Scan” in the Windows search bar.

Select Scan Settings:

  • Choose your printer from the list if prompted.
  • Select the scan settings you prefer (e.g., color, resolution).

Start the Scan:

  • Click “Scan” and wait for the scanning process to complete.
  • The scanned document will open in the HP Scan software, where you can save or adjust it.

Using the Printer’s Control Panel:

Access the Printer’s Control Panel:

  • On the printer’s touch screen, select the “Scan” option.

Select Scan Destination:

  • Choose “To Computer” or “Send to Computer” from the scan options.

Choose Computer and Settings:

  • Select the computer you want to send the scan to if multiple are available.
  • Choose the scan settings (e.g., resolution, file type).

Start Scanning:

  • Place your document in the scanner and start the scan.
  • The scanned document will be sent directly to the selected computer.

By following these steps, you should be able to scan directly to your computer without needing to use the HP Smart app.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
