Product: HP DeskJet 4155e All-in-One Printer

My 4155e prints and copies fine.  Scanning seems to require a set up each time , only to reach a dead end.  Is there a way to smooth this process out to create a PDF from scanning; followed by naming & saving the file in my external hard drive.
