Hi @ShutEyeThinkin,

Good Day.  Thank you for posting your query in the HP community.  I read the post regarding issues with scanning errors on the printer. I will be delighted to assist you here.

Superb description and spectacular troubleshooting and commendable diagnosis of the issue before posting.

To assist you with accurate information I would require more information regarding this:

  • Are you able to make copies directly from the printer?
  • Are you able to scan from the printer now after the error message showed up?
  • Did this happen after a power outage or surge?

For now, try these steps:

  • Please make 2 copies directly from the printer without any communication from the computer,
  • Check if it copies correctly. If it does then try to scan from the computer and see if it scans correctly.
  • If it scans from the computer correctly then continue to scan from the computer and ignore the printer’s error. This is a workaround if you cannot scan from the printer directly.

For the scanner error please try these steps:

  • Please perform all the prescribed steps from this link: http://hp.care/2CxaYWx and check if the issue gets fixed.
  • If the printer fails to make copies without any intervention from the computer then perform step 2 and 3 from this link: http://hp.care/2CzF6AJ and check again after the hard reset if the issue persists.

Like I said before If you are able to scan from the computer, this error should not matter. It is a hardware issue with the printer and may not let you scan from the printer.

If you are not able to scan from the computer also, then the printer needs to be replaced by contacting HP phone support.

HP Technical Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: http://hp.care/2r9wSvP

  • Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number on the right.

  • Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.

They will be happy to assist you immediately.

Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. It will definitely fix the issue for you.

I plugged the printer into the wall oullet. It had been connected to my UPS.  When I press the Scan button. The Printer's Display shows:

HP ENVY-750

Other

OK

I never used to see this, but, now do. I did update the software today, hoping that would help. That may have changed this.

If I have 'HP Envy-750' Selected, and press OK, then it scans, and sends the scan to the PC, to a file.

If I Select 'Other', then press OK, the msg 'Scan error Try scan from computer' appears.

But, I want to be able to scan, and make copies, using the Scan button, instead of using the PC.

That makes the printer a Copier machine. There are people here, who do not like uing a PC to make copies. They only want to use the Scan button. It has worked fine for years. Now it doesn't.

I actually want to press the Black Copy button, or the Color Copy Buton, to select how many copies I want, and the printer should print them out, with no need for the PC to be involved. That's a ture copier.

If I press the Black Copy button, beside the Diaplsy, the Display changes from x0 to x1, but, doesn't produce a copy. It used to let me press the Black Copy button 2 times, for example, and would show x2 in the Display, and then scan and print out 2 copies. Nowm the x2, for example, quickly changes back to x0, and nothing else happens.
