adf error wont reset, there is no jam, never was! it says orignal is jamed but i was not using the adf at the time

@gleyde, Welcome to HP support Community!

 

This could be a false paper jam error message due to the paper sensor or rollers, Let's try the below steps to resolve it:

 

Step 1:  Reset the printer

 

1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

2. Wait at least 60 seconds.

3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

4. Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

 

Step 2:  Follow steps 2 and 3 from this document as there could be tiny paper bits stuck inside or the rollers may be not functioning properly

No did not work no paper was put thru the adf for over 6 months and no paper can be found

Since you have tried all the troubleshooting steps, I'm afraid this is a possible hardware failure.

 

please contact our HP Support team for Service Options

1) Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp 

2) Select your product type below.

3) Enter the serial of your device.

4) Select the country from the drop-down.

5) Select the chat or get phone number options based on your preferences.

6) Fill the web-form and proceed further.

Hello CribDesigner,

I am a hp technical engineer and have been faced with such issues all the time.
We had the same error message.
When the cover of the logic board was removed, I realised that the cable which comes from adf to the logic board
was not connected well.
After resitting it and putting on, the error was nowhere to be found.

Great that you found a possible solution to the issue, however, this above-mentioned step is not recommended for customers to perform as it includes working with the CIrcuit boards and internal cables. Only a professional technician is advised to perform these steps. Hence I would suggest you contact our Support team.
