Hi @printeruser122,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 scanner is not scanning to 11 x 17 after getting a new computer, here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Check the Scanner Software Settings

  • HP Scan Software:
    • Open the HP Scan software on your new computer.
    • Select the Scan option and choose the appropriate scan type.
    • Look for the Page Size or Paper Size settings, and ensure it is set to 11 x 17 (Tabloid).
  • HP Smart App:
    • If you're using the HP Smart app, make sure to select 11 x 17 as the paper size in the scan settings before scanning.

2. Ensure Proper Installation of Drivers

  • Download and install the latest drivers and software for the HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 from the HP Support website.
  • Ensure that the full-feature software is installed, as basic drivers might not support all scanning functions, including larger paper sizes.

3. Use the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder)

  • For larger sizes like 11 x 17, it's best to use the ADF instead of the flatbed scanner. Ensure the document is properly aligned in the ADF.

4. Check for Software Updates

  • Make sure your scanning software and printer drivers are up to date. Check for updates in the HP Smart app or via Windows Update.

5. Try Scanning from a Different Program

  • You can try using a different scanning application, such as Windows Fax and Scan, to see if the issue persists. In most cases, these programs allow you to select the paper size before scanning..

Please find the remaining steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @printeruser122,

Please find the next steps below.

6. Check for Firmware Updates

  • Make sure your HP 7740 printer firmware is up to date. Firmware updates can improve functionality and resolve issues.

7. Use the Correct Scan Profile

  • Ensure that the scan profile you're using is set up for 11 x 17 scanning. You can create or modify scan profiles in the HP software to include this size.

8. Verify Computer and Printer Connection

  • Ensure that your new computer is properly connected to the printer, whether via USB or network, and that it recognizes all the features of the HP 7740.

9. Reset Printer Settings

  • If all else fails, try resetting the printer to its factory settings, then reconfigure it with your new computer.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the issue and scan 11 x 17 documents with your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 on your new computer.

If the issue persists after trying these steps, consider contacting HP Phone Support.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
