iam unable to scan from my apple mac in mfp m177fw laser jet printer

• Have you tried making a standalone copy and check if that works?
• How is the printer connected to the computer, USB or wireless?

Step 1: Check the scanner bar functionality

Perform a visual test of the scanner mechanism to see if it is jammed.

1. Remove any original documents or photos from the scanner glass.

2. Lift the scanner lid slightly, and then press the Copy button or icon.

   • If the scanner light does not move, the scanner mechanism is likely jammed. Contact HP to service the printer.

   • If the scanner light moves but the error still displays, continue to the next section

Step 2: Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest firmware from your computer.

Step 3: Install the printer using AirPrint drivers

Click here to Update software on Mac 

1.) Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.

2.) Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, If your printer is listed, click the printer name, click the minus sign to delete the printer.

3.) If you see multiple printer queues for the same printer, remove all extra printers by selecting them one at a time, and then clicking the minus button  at the bottom of the list.

4.) Click the plus sign , click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name.

5.) Click the Use or Print Using menu, select AirPrint in the pop-up menu. Then click Add.

6.) Try to print and scan.

If HP Utility has not been installed, click here to download the same.

To Locate HP Utility, click on GO > Applications > HP folder > HP Utility
