in receiving fax, I only get the first page and says fax receive failed

Sounds like a communication issue.

Could be setup - could be the connection / wiring.

Fax is one of the most documented features - both "how-to" and "troubleshooting is available to help you find and resolve the problem(s) you might encounter.

Check for poor line conditions by making a telephone call on the same line. If the line is working, resend the fax or ask the sender to resend it. If the error persists, securely connect to another wall jack using the phone cord that shipped with the fax machine. If necessary, disable Error Correction Mode (ECM), use a slower transmission speed, and set a lower fax resolution.

If nothing you do resolved the issues,

Consider that the phone wire might be bad under your house (or out at the pole or beyond).

Yes, "bad wiring" is possible, though local issues are less likely if under-house wiring in your home is protected from the occasional squirrel or other small rodent and if your Utilities are all underground.
