Went into EWS to see how to vary some settings and was advised the network printer settings were insecure - in spite of having a secure wifi. So Tried to set up password and now can no longer access most of EWS controls. No obviousd option to reset uaser name and password in EWS.

Hello, @stuiecooper – Hope you are well 🙂
Allow me to welcome you to HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel.
I see that you are having issues while accessing the printer EWS. The page that you mentioned which said “insecure” is part of the printer page. It is designed in such a way to warn the users to not proceed ahead because any change of settings in those parts of printer EWS will cause issues for smooth printer functioning.
But, you can proceed to those pages, acknowledging the risk that you are taking. You can simply click on “Advanced settings” on the warning page and then click on “Proceed to the page” (The terms differ in different browsers – but you get the idea)
Now, you mentioned about the printer EWS lock. Did you setup any new password? If not try the user name as “admin” and leave the password blank.
That should do the trick, let me know the outcome!
Good luck 🙂

Thanks for the prompt reply - sadly I did try to set up a password etc and while doing so the display jumped ahead somehow and asked for my password twice. I tried 'admin' leaving the password blank but this didn't work. Then I tried 'admin' with the password I'd set up and bingo it worked and all is now good - with full access to EWS.
Kind regards.
