Bought printer in May awful time getting it set up and did not want the Smart App and then this printer was not recognized by HP and no help from where i bought it unless i paid for it. So i spent hours and finally found software to set it up. Had to change from WiFi to direct connection (because it randomly say it lost connection) and started working fine.  Now since end of July my scans do not go to the folder on my computer that i assigned and can't find where they are going. My printer assistant some how no longer shows scan but just fax and print. So i have no idea how to get my scans to go where i want since i can't get into settings or even enable scan to computer if needed.  I can scan from the computer and scan/print doctor says everything is ok.  But if i scan to computer from printer it does not show up in the folder it used to.  Tried to do everything online but there is nothing that addresses my issue or i mostly get errors and sites don't work.  This has been the most frustrating thing to have to go through.  So much for the simple days when you got a the cd software with the printer, stick it in and away you go

@dkhi, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Make sure the full-featured driver is installed on the computer.

Click here to download the HP Full-featured driver. (If not already installed)

Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and follow the on-screen instructions.

(a) Open HP Printer Assistant (double click printer icon on desktop),

(b) Select Scan a document or photo,

(c) Click Advanced settings,

(d) Change location from Destination tab.

On the printer assistant, go to scan > manage scan to computer and make sure it is enabled.

Try scanning from the printer screen.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Right now the HP site is not working and will check back another  day.   Also when i install what you recommended will it just over write what was previously installed.  It still is not working correctly and had it working for one scan and then quit.

@dkhi

Kindly check if you have the full-featured software installed. If not, only then go ahead and install the software.

If you already have it on the PC, skip ti the next step in my previous post.

Let me know how this goes.
