Hi,
I have a Laserjet MFP 277DW and really like it. SInce the last EL Capitan point release I Find thaht the files I scan to the network folder have wrong permissions. As a result I have to alter the permissions on each file so I can access them. It wasn't like this before. DOes anyone have any idea where I could set this to work properly?
Thansk

Hi @mtek1,
Permissions for shared folders on Macintosh computers is a little out of my scope. This may be a topic better suited for the Apple Support Communities.

Hi @mtek1,
Thanks for reaching out to the HP Support Forums for a solution to your scanning issue.
I understand that you have an HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277dw and since he last Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan update you need to alter the permissions on scans sent to a network folder to be able to view them. I would like to help with that.
It would be the network folder itself that needs to have it's permissions changed. The printer does not assign permissions to a file when it is creating the scan, it is the folder applying those permissions on the file that is going into it.
1. Single-click the folder highlight it.
2. Click the File menu at the top left of your screen and then click Get Info, an information window will appear.
3. If the Pad-lock in the bottom-right of the window is locked, you will need to unlock it with your username and password.
4. Under Sharing and Permissions, changing the permissions to "Read & Write" there should change it for the entire folder.
I did come across a couple things, in my search for a solution to this issue, that suggest that there are some issues with folder permissions in Mac OS X 10.11.
If the permissions issue persists it may help to delete the network folder, and then create a new one and set up Scan to Network Folder again.
Here is a support document that can help setting up a network folder - Set up a Shared Folder.
This support document can help setting up Scan to Network Folder - Set up the Scan to Network Folder feature.

Hi rb011,
I tried creating a new folder as well as changing the permissions on the old folder but to no avail. Neither worked. I'm at a loss and this wastes a LOT of time for me. I agree with you that the isue seems to rest with os X but one way or another I have to find a fix.
Thanks
