It sounds like your HP OfficeJet Pro 3085 is asking for a PIN due to the scan-to-email or network scan setup. If you can't remember the PIN, there are a few things you can try to resolve this issue and disable the PIN requirement:

Reset the PIN

If you can't remember the PIN, you can try to reset it from the printer's control panel or through the HP Smart App on your computer or mobile device.

  • Open HP Smart on your computer.
  • Go to Printers and select your HP OfficeJet Pro 3085.
  • Click on Manage or Printer Settings.
  • Look for Scan Settings or Scan to Network.
  • If available, you should be able to reset or change the PIN here.

Alternatively, if you're still unable to reset the PIN via the app:

Disable the PIN Requirement (for scanning)

You can disable the PIN feature or reconfigure the scanning settings directly from the printer:

  • On the Printer's Control Panel:
    • Press the Home button on the printer's control panel.
    • Go to Setup (it might be represented by a wrench or gear icon).
    • Navigate to Network and look for Scan Settings.
    • If there’s an option for a PIN, you can either disable it or reset it to something you can remember.

Reconfigure the Scan Settings

If you’re unable to reset the PIN directly, another option is to reconfigure the scan settings completely:

  • Go to the printer’s Web Interface (use the printer's IP address in a web browser).
  • On the web interface, navigate to Scan Settings.
  • You can either change or disable the PIN requirement for scan-to-email or scan-to-network functionality.

Reinstall Printer Drivers and Software

  • If you're still having trouble with the scanning feature, you can reinstall the printer drivers on your computer.
  • Visit the HP support website and download the latest drivers for your HP OfficeJet Pro 3085.
  • After installation, go through the scanner setup again, and you should be able to use the scanner without the PIN prompt.

Reset the Printer to Factory Settings

As a last resort, you can factory reset the printer to remove all configurations, including the PIN:

  • On the printer, go to Setup.
  • Look for Restore Defaults or Factory Reset options (this may vary by model).
  • Note that this will erase all configurations, and you will need to set up the printer again.
