We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.  

  

If your HP printer can print but is unable to scan and is showing as offline, follow these steps to resolve the issue:

Check the Scanner Power:

  • Ensure that the scanner power is ON.

Verify Connections:

  • Check that the FireWire cable between the scanner and the touch screen is properly inserted.
  • Ensure all cables are securely connected at both ends.

Rescan Button:

  • Press the Rescan button on your printer to attempt reconnecting.

Restart Devices:

  • Try restarting your printer and scanner to establish a fresh connection.

Check Printer Setup:

  • Make sure the printer is correctly set up in the scanner system software. You can verify this by checking the Setup tab and ensuring the printer name is displayed.

Perform Preview Scan:

  • If combining thick media handling with auto-size detection, perform a preview scan before the final copy or scan operation.

Scanner Diagnostics:

  • If the scanner diagnostics light continues to flash after cleaning and restarting, there may be camera position errors that require professional service.

System Recovery:

  • If the touch screen stops responding, you may need to recover the system using the System Recovery CD that came with your scanner.
