Today my scans started scanning really HUGE and when I try to email them, they are too big.  I tried removing the scanner and reinstalling but it is still doing the same thing. Thanks for any help you can give me.  Susan

Hi @suziesells,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

It sounds like your scanner settings may have changed, causing it to scan documents at a higher resolution or quality than before. To reduce the file size of your scanned documents, you can try the following steps:

Adjust Scan Settings: When you initiate a scan, look for options to adjust the scan settings such as resolution, color mode, and file format. Choose a lower resolution (e.g., 150 or 200 dpi) and use a compressed file format like PDF to reduce the file size.

Use Preview: If your scanner software allows it, use the preview feature to see the scanned document before saving it. This way, you can adjust the scan settings to your liking.

Reduce Image Quality: If you need to scan images, reducing the quality or using a grayscale mode instead of color can significantly reduce file sizes.

Use OCR (Optical Character Recognition): If you're scanning text documents, use OCR to convert the scanned document into editable text. This can reduce the file size significantly compared to a scanned image.

Check Default Settings: Make sure that the default scan settings on your printer/scanner are set to a reasonable resolution and file format.

If these steps don't resolve the issue, you may need to reset your printer/scanner to its factory settings. Let me know

Hope this helps!
