I have an 2012 OfficeJet 8600 on a WI-FI network. Until recently we were running on a 802.11n 2.4 MHz network. Recently both of us got new computers (my laptop aduio/video cards going and her laptop screen cracking. The new computers have network adapters that can run the 802.11a/c 5 MHz protocol. We've also moved and our ISP has provided a router that can operate in this mode, which makes our Internet much faster. The printer works fine as a wirel'ess printer but won't work at all at wireless scanning. I've run ScanDoctor and the program won't identify the network. Is there something else going on. I don't want to go back to factory settings because I'm afraid I'll lose the printnig connection. Any other ideas. Do the latest OfficeJet provide this protocol?

Hi,
Your printer supports 2.4GHz networks only. I don't know your new router but please ask your ISP to config at as dual bands (both 2.4GHz and 5GHz), this will fix the problem. In many cases you can config this yourself if you knew password to logon to the router.
Regards.

Scanning issues…
Please try this scan solution:
HP Scan Extended
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi
Once it's downloaded and installed, go to Start > All Programs > HP > HP Scan Extended > Run "HP Scan Extended"
Let us know.

The software couldn't locate the device. When I was asked to enter the IP address I. Iwhat was on the control panel, the old D-Link address 192.168.0.242 (fixed ip) . I got an error message that this IP wasn't avaiable on the SSID. My D-Lik SSID have been HIGHLANDHOUSE2. I'm pretty sure the problem is with a new gateway (modem-router combo) I have a new network name SSID and therefore I should have a different IP address correct? There are acutallly two SSID's, one for 2.4 GHz and one for 5 GHz. The gateway access IP is 10.0.0.10
To explain what's going on, we just moved. At our old location I had a gateway and an very old external router. We have the same ISP, Comcast, at the new location. They provided a gateway which has phone and internet. Because of coverage issues I've had wih their gateways I bought a Linksys "whole house" wireless router but because of the rush to reconnect I decided to rely on the ISP gateway in the interim. I know from past experience with Comcast's gateway when you install an external router they have to set up a bridge which can be done remotely in 10-15 minutes
I may be making this more complicated but I'll have to figure this out so the new router will accept the printer without a hitch.
