outgoing fax dials MY phone # instead of sending #

I enter the fax # to send fax. Fax automatically dials My number, so I naturally get a busy signal.

I understand you are trying to send a fax but are getting a busy signal. I see that you believe the fax is inadvertently being sent back to your own number. What makes you believe that is is trying to send to your number, do you see your number on the screen? Is the printer printing a fax report indicating what number it tried to send to? 

What happens when you pick up the telephone and dial the number you're trying to fax to, do you get a busy signal, fax tone, or does it ring? 

While I wait to hear back from you, 

1. Send a one page black and white text fax to 1-888-hpfaxme (1-888-473-2963).

2. When your fax is received by the HP Test Fax Service, we will generate a return fax to you within five minutes confirming that we received your fax. This verifies that you can both send and receive a fax with your fax machine.

My phone # shows as being dialed then the number I want to fax to shows behind it (20) digits.. Printout shows that. Have tried resetting but continues to show from number( mine) followed by. To number.. And busy signal.. Keeps redialing till I turn it off.
