Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

HP Officejet Pro 7740. I can print to the printer but when I want to scan to the computer i get the following message. "Make sure the scanning software has been installed and configured on your computer.  Windows: Open the HP Printer" Everything has been fine for years. Now today i get this error message. !!! Any advice is appreciated.

I understand you are trying to scan from the printer screen. To enable scan to computer option, a full-featured printer driver must be installed on the PC.

Have you tried scanning from the computer and check if that works? Use the Hp Smart app.

 

Click here to download the HP Full-feature driver.

Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and follow the on-screen instructions.

Open the utility, go to Scan > Manage scan to computer > Enable

 

Try scanning.
