I bought this new scanner and the very first scan I attempted resulted in a jam. So I pulled out the paper sheet carefully and closed the ADF lid again. Since then I've been unable to scan anything because the system tells me that the ADF cover is open, although it isn't. I've tried to open and close it multiple times and to reset the scanner but to no avail. Has anyone experienced the same issue?

Hello @Mephistos,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Try these solutions here: Clear paper jams in the Automatic Document Feeder
If the solutions do not lead to success and the scanner still has warranty, then I suspect a hardware error.
Please contact HP support team in your region for help.
Thanks for understanding!
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
Andreas

Hi Andreas,
I think I might have solved the problem somehow. I tried "flossing" the unit and although nothing came out, the light stopped blinking and I was able to attempt scanning again. It was jamming constantly since the first attempt but I noticed that the pages always had a dent in the same spot. I checked on the underside of the ADF and on the roll just before the scanning unit there is a small black lever sensor that had a thin and flimsy piece of black plastic attached to it that was causing the jams. I suppose it's a residue from when the plastic piece was cast. It tore off easily and it seems like now I'm able to scan normally.
However, I consider this to be a serious problem of quality control, especially for a sort of expensive machine from an established brand.
