The "Scan to computer is no longer active" notification is CONSTANTLY popping up since I upgraded my WiFi router. It is driving me bonkers! Is there a way to just turn off the notification without going into the printer settings to actually turn off "Scan to Computer"? The function usually pops right back and pretty much works 100% of the time when I need it to. I've updated the drivers on my laptop, but for some reason with this new WiFi router, this scourge to my sanity has returned. I just want to turn off the notification.

Or, if it is super easy with my very old printer (which I have NO INCLINATION to replace) to make it go back to not having this utility constantly turn off and on (like it was with my old router), then I would appreciate it if you could tell me.

Of note... I asked this same question about a year ago, and was told to update drivers, which I did then and now. That issue went away. But this time, with the install of my new WiFi router, it is not going away. PLEASE HELP!

@BananaFrappe, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Assign manual IP to the printer-

The steps on how to set a manual IP address can be found here.

For the DNS servers please use 8.8.8.8 for the Manual Preferred DNS Server and 8.8.4.4 for the Alternate DNS server. These are Google’s public DNS servers

If the issue persists, try adding a TCP/IP port.

  1. Print a Network Configuration Report from the Printer Settings or Wireless menu.
  2. Right-click your printer, select Printer Properties, click the Ports tab and then click Add Port.
  3. Select Standard TCP/IP Port, and then click New Port.
  4. Follow the instructions to add a new port using the information listed on the Network Configuration Report.
  5. Try restarting the devices.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
