I have one of my users who when she prints from email it randomly prints in Landscape instead of letter, but when she prints a word document it will print in Landscape when it needs to and when she needs to print in Portrait it will print when it needs to.

HI @giants1313 ,
Thank you for your response.
It sounds like the issue is related to how the print settings are being applied differently for emails versus Word documents. Here’s a step-by-step approach to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:
1. Check Printer Settings in Outlook
- Open Outlook: Go to the email that you want to print.
- Select Print: Click on File > Print.
- Printer Properties: Ensure that the correct paper size and orientation are selected in the printer properties dialog.
2. Adjust Printer Defaults
- Open Control Panel: Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Right-Click Printer: Find the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw, right-click on it, and select Printing Preferences.
- Check Settings: Ensure that the default settings for paper size and orientation are correct. Sometimes, settings here can override application-specific settings.
3. Update Printer Drivers
- Visit HP’s Website: Go to the HP Support website.
- Download Latest Drivers: Search for your printer model and download the latest drivers for Windows 10.
4. Check Outlook Settings
- Open Outlook: Click File > Options.
- Mail: Check under Mail > Message format and Mail > Printing.
- Print Options: Ensure that the settings here are set correctly for your printing needs.
5. Test Printing from Different Applications
- Test in Other Applications: Try printing from other applications like a web browser or a PDF viewer to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is specific to Outlook.
6. Reset Printing System
- Clear Print Queue: Sometimes, clearing the print queue can help. Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers, find your printer, right-click, and choose See what’s printing. Cancel any pending print jobs.
- Restart Printer: Turn off the printer, wait a few seconds, and then turn it back on.
7. Check for Software Updates
- Update Outlook: Ensure that Outlook is up-to-date with the latest patches and updates from Microsoft.
- Update Windows: Sometimes, system updates can resolve printing issues. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.

Hello Gaya,
May I have the exact name of the model of the product? HP COLOR LASER JETY PRO MFP M283fdw
Could you please elaborate in detail?
The end user can generally print well in Word with no issues, but when it comes to printing Outlook, there are times when printing Outlook, the user gets a printed document in a format that is not what she needs, such as printing a document in Portrait, which comes out in Landscape.
