Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended

I would like to completely remove the PIN code request so that I can scan directly to the web (which generates a PDF). I was able to do this with my previous printer, but not anymore… Why add more security when it’s not needed?

thanks

@jeremiev, Welcome to the HP Support Community – it’s great to have you here!

I appreciate you taking the time to share your question. I'm more than happy to assist with this and provide a solution that works for you.

I understand you'd like to remove the PIN prompt when accessing WebScan via the HP Embedded Web Server (EWS). This PIN is part of HP's security enhancements to prevent unauthorized access to printer settings and features like WebScan.

To disable the PIN requirement (if supported by your printer model), follow these steps:

Access the Embedded Web Server (EWS):

  • Make sure your printer is connected to the same network as your computer.
  • Find your printer’s IP address:
    • On touchscreen printers: Go to Network Settings or Wireless Summary.
    • On non-touchscreen printers: Press the Information button to print a report with the IP address.
  • Open a web browser and enter the IP address (e.g., http://192.168.x.x) to open the EWS.

Log in to the EWS:

  • Username: admin
  • PIN: Found on a label inside the cartridge access area or on the back of the printer.
  • If you’ve changed the PIN, use the updated one or contact your printer administrator.

Disable PIN Requirement (if available):

  • Navigate to Security or Settings > Security > Administrator Settings.
  • Look for an option like WebScan Access Control or Embedded Web Server Access Settings.
  • Set it to "No Authentication" or disable PIN requirement.
  • Save the changes.
