HP OfficeJet 5255 All-in-One Printer

I sent a mobile fax.  It probably went through, but I'm not sure.  I want to send it again, but I don't know how to do that.

Hi @soozz,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To resend a fax using your HP Officejet 5255 All-In-One Printer, follow these steps.

Check Fax Status: First, confirm whether the fax was sent successfully or not. Many printers provide a fax log or fax confirmation report that you can print out to verify the status of your fax transmission.

Resend the Fax: If you determine that the fax didn't go through or if you're unsure, you can resend it. Here's a general guide on how to resend a fax:

  • Load the document you want to fax into the printer's document feeder or onto the scanner glass.
  • Access the fax menu on your printer. This can usually be done through the printer's control panel or touchscreen interface.
  • Select the option to send a fax or resend a fax.
  • Enter the recipient's fax number using the keypad on the printer's control panel.
  • If necessary, adjust any fax settings such as resolution or contrast.
  • Press the "Start" or "Send" button to initiate the fax transmission.

Confirm Transmission: After initiating the resend, monitor the printer's display for any error messages or confirmation prompts. Once the fax has been successfully sent, you should receive a confirmation message or see a confirmation on the printer's display.

If you encounter any difficulties or if your printer has specific instructions for resending faxes, refer to the printer's user manual for detailed guidance.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I wanted to be able to resend a fax without having to go through rescanning the paperwork.  For me, that's like sending it the first time.  Is there anyway to resend a fax that's been scanned in already?

Hi @soozz,

Thank you for your response,

Yes, you can resend a fax without rescanning the paperwork on an HP Officejet 5255 All-In-One Printer. Most modern fax machines and all-in-one printers allow you to resend a fax that has already been scanned without having to rescan the documents. Here's how you can do it on the HP Officejet 5255.

  • Access the Fax Menu: On the printer's control panel, navigate to the fax menu. This can usually be done by pressing the "Fax" button or accessing it through the printer's touchscreen interface.
  • Locate the Fax History or Sent Faxes: Look for an option like "Fax History," "Sent Faxes," or something similar in the fax menu. This option will allow you to view a list of previously sent faxes.
  • Select the Fax to Resend: Browse through the list of sent faxes and select the one you want to resend.
  • Resend the Fax: After selecting the fax you want to resend, there should be an option to resend it without needing to rescan the documents. This option might be labeled as "Resend" or "Send Again." Press this option to resend the fax.
  • Confirm and Send: The printer may ask you to confirm the resend action. Confirm the action, and the fax will be resent using the previously scanned documents.

By following these steps, you should be able to resend a fax without having to go through the process of rescanning the paperwork on your HP Officejet 5255 All-In-One Printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I found the fax history and found the fax that I wasn't sure about, but there was no button to resend or send again.

So, I still am not sure how to do this.  I was so happy because this sounded like it was a very good solution...

but it wasn't  Is it possible that I can't resend the fax from my printer?  Very unhappy if that is the case.

Thank you.
