When I order scan from desktop, HP does scan to desktop as I want. However, when I check that I dod want to save this - a screen comes down asking for prefix: tags; where: (I can select desktop) format: (I can select PDF of JPG) and offers only CANCEL at bottom. SAVE box stays gray

@Chisholm, Welcome to HP Support Community!
Troubleshoot issues that can disable the Save button when scanning with HP Easy Scan.
-
The Prefix field is blank: Confirm that a name for the scanned item is in the Prefix field.
-
No write access to the selected folder: If you do not have permission to access the folder you want to save the scan to, save to a folder that you can access.
-
An older version of HP Easy Scan is installed: In the top menu bar, click HP Easy Scan, and then click Check for Updates to install the latest version.
Also, Update the printer firmware
Download available firmware updates from the HP website
With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. Refer to the document HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
