HP OfficeJet Pro 9025e
macOS 12.0 Monterey

I recently purchased and set up a new HP OfficeJet Pro 9025e, and registered it through HP+ (which makes me wonder why it doesn't show up on this site as one of the products I own, but whatever).  My problem is that I would like to be able to save items I scan using HP Smart to any folder I like on my local computer, but it will only save to an iCloud folder called HP Smart. HP Smart let me do that with the OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus I had before this printer.

Thank you for any advice you have about this.

Hi @doctor_jah,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To save a scanned item to an arbitrary folder on your local Mac computer disk using an HP OfficeJet Pro 9025e, follow these steps:

  • Install the HP Smart app: Make sure you have the HP Smart app installed on your Mac. If you don't have it, you can download it from the Mac App Store.
  • Connect the printer: Ensure that your HP OfficeJet Pro 9025e is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Mac.
  • Open the HP Smart app: Launch the HP Smart app on your Mac.
  • Scan the item: Place the item you want to scan on the scanner glass or in the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) of your HP OfficeJet Pro 9025e.
  • Start the scanning process: In the HP Smart app, click on the "Scan" option.
  • Configure scan settings: Choose the desired settings for your scan, such as color mode, resolution, file type, etc. You may also need to select the scan source (ADF or scanner glass) if applicable.
  • Choose "Save to Computer": After the scan is complete, the HP Smart app will provide you with saving options. Select "Save to Computer."
  • Select the destination folder: The app will likely prompt you to choose where you want to save the scanned item. At this point, navigate to the arbitrary folder you want to save the scan to. If the folder is not immediately visible, you can use the "Choose Folder" option to browse and select the desired location.
  • Save the scan: Once you've selected the folder, click the "Save" or "OK" button to save the scanned item to the chosen location on your Mac's local disk.

Your scanned item should now be saved in the folder you specified, allowing you to access it on your Mac whenever you need it. Remember that the exact steps and options may vary slightly depending on the version of the HP Smart app and printer firmware you have installed, but the general process should be similar.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

@Alden4, Thank you for your response to my question.  Unfortunately, it doesn't work.  I think the version of HP Smart I have (15.1.1)  is different from yours.  There is no "Scan" option.  It is "Printer Scan".  And there is no "Save to Computer" option.  Maybe I have to install additional drivers or something, but when I've tried to do that it always takes me back to just installing HP Smart.  So I don't know what the problem is.  Do you (or anyone else) have any ideas?

Thank you, @Andrea_D01, but I'm sorry to say that HP Smart 15.1.1 is exactly the one I am using and where this doesn't work:

doctor_jah_0-1690463399536.png

The support doc does not address my issue either.  What I want to do, and what was possible in previous versions of HP Smart, is to save the scan in a folder of my choice related to the scan.  Saving it in the HP Smart Folder means I have to go there and copy the scan to where I want it, extra steps which shouldn't be necessary, and weren't in previous versions.  Looks like HP is following the lead pioneered by Microsoft of removing useful features when updating a program.

Thanks anyway.

@Andrea_D01: Oh my goodness, my apologies.  The "workaround" does work!  But it seems to me that it worked more straightforwardly in previous versions of HP Smart.  And it also seems to me that the workaround should be the default.

Okay, let me provide this feedback to the internal team so they are aware!  Thank you for the feedback, this helps me to give them that information!

Hi Guys,

I updated to version 16.1.1 and it solved the "Save to computer" problem however I still see that we can't save with resolution more than 300. Can you help ?
