My officejet 9015e has suddenly stopped saving scans i do with the "scan to pc"option on the printer screen.
- the function has worked fine for months on my windows 10 computer, saved every scan to a folder on my computer i setup in scan settings.
- now, after the scan has completed, no files are saved in the folder anymore. cant find them anywhere.
- this week i started using a new laptop with windows 11. I set up all the software and scan settings. Tried the scan to pc function. it works ONE TIME. it saved 1 file, then never again does it work. scanner starts scanning, but files just never arrive at pc
- completely removed all software and drivers on the laptop, factory reset the printer.
- reinstalled all software, setup printer, scanner etc. again, it works ONE TIME. it saves the scanned file the first time. then nothing. scanner starts scanning but scans just disappear into thin air...
printing works just fine, scanning using the scan app on the laptop works just fine. but i need the "scan to pc" function on the printer itself to work!
the fact that this issue is happening on two completely different computers, with two different versions of windows makes me think this is some HP software issue...some HP update broke this?

Hello Makupi,
Be sure to carefully go through the steps and run CMD as Admin, if the command fails please clarify what error is returned while running the command.
• From the Start menu click the Gear icon, select Apps, and uninstall the HP Basic Device Software for your printer.
• From the search bar type CMD, right-click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator.
• Copy the following command, then right-click the Command Prompt dialog and select Paste, then press Enter till any command completes.
takeown /f %windir%\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository /r /d y
icacls "%windir%\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository" /grant %username%:(OI)(CI)F /T
for /d %G in ("%windir%\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\hpesclscan*") do rd /s /q "%~G"
takeown /f %windir%\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository /A /r /d y
• Download and install the latest HP Basic Device Software for your printer as necessary: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/printers
If issue still persists, try the below steps…
Close the HP SMART APP.
Remove originals from ADF and Flatbed.
Power off the printer. Wait for 30 seconds and then power On the printer and wait until the home screen shows up.
Load the originals in ADF and ensure printer displays "Original Loaded".
Now try scanning to Computer using the printer front panel.

Wow, it looks like this is the solution.
ive been able to do a few scans now.
so it was a permissions problem? interesting that this happens on both my systems. Makes me think this would have happened to many people then... maybe a windows update caused it?
glad to get a straight to the point solution, without any "did you try unplugging your device" or "is the powerplug connected" type of answers 😉

Hello- I am having the exact same issue. This solution works, but I have to run the cmd sequence, remove software and reinstall software every single day to be able to save scans from the ADF.
