when attempting to scan to computer (wi-fi) i get error at printer that computer is not connected; at the computer, error says software component not installed. i deleted and reinstalled the printer and continue to experience the same problem. any assistance greatly appreciated.

As I understand that you are facing issues with your HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911a wherein it does not scan to the computer on the wi-fi network.
This issue could occur if the scan to computer is not enabled or the latest drivers are not installed.

I Went through following Steps:
Step 1: i can send document to the printer over wifi.
Step 2: check driver scan setting -- enables an to computer was checked.
Step 3: network & printer settings are good.
Step 5: removed and re added the printer. Computer screen displays "A necessary software component is missing or corrupt. Please reinstall the software for your device and/or check hard drive for problems."
Still have same problem ...
