Hi @Mack46,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.

I see that you are facing an issue with scan to email feature on your Printer.

A) Please follow the steps below to perform a power drain.

1) Take out the cartridges

2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.

3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.

5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.

Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges

B) Kindly refer to the steps on this link to update the printer firmware and let me know if that resolves the issue.

C) If you are still encountering an invalid password/username error when trying to scan to email with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8620, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

1. Check Email Settings:

  • Make sure you have the correct email settings for your email provider (e.g., SMTP server, port number).
  • Common settings for popular providers:
    • Gmail:
      • SMTP Server: smtp.gmail.com
      • Port: 587 (TLS) or 465 (SSL)
    • Outlook.com:
      • SMTP Server: smtp-mail.outlook.com
      • Port: 587
    • Yahoo:
      • SMTP Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
      • Port: 587

2. Update Email Credentials:

  • Ensure that the username (usually your email address) and password are correctly entered in the printer's email settings.
  • If you've recently changed your email password, make sure to update it in the printer settings as well.

3. Check for Two-Factor Authentication:

  • If you have two-factor authentication enabled on your email account, you may need to create an app-specific password for the printer.
  • Check your email provider's support site for instructions on generating an app-specific password.

4. Reset Network Settings:

  • Sometimes, network issues can cause authentication problems. Reset the printer’s network settings and reconfigure the Wi-Fi connection.

5. Test Email Functionality:

  • Try sending a test email from the printer to see if the error persists. If it does, double-check your settings.

D) Uninstall the printer software by following the steps from this link and restart the devices.

E)  Install the printer software by clicking on the link again and let me know if that resolves the issue.

Note: Enable Bluetooth for an HP Smart app setup: Enable Bluetooth on your computer or mobile device so that HP Smart can detect the printer during the setup.

Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day
