HP Office Jet Pro Plus
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Trying to scan to email receiving error msg "Server does not support secure connection. Make sure the correct server is specified or uncheck the requirement for secure connection option" (that is unchecked) I spent a couple of hours with AT&T Tech support and they suggested I contact HP and ask if they are having any server issues. I can't seem to find a link that allows me to chat with HP and the virtual assistant is no help. The scanner has worked fine in the past and I don't know what happened that created this problem. The software is up to date as far as I know, any suggestions? I'm not a computer whiz so the fix needs to be explained so I can follow. Thank you, Jim

Hi,

The printer connect directly to your email service through your home network, a printer don't have any server on a such but it is only a device which connect to their server.

Such would occur due to any issue with your local network or your email account itself.

First, let's make sure you set the correct settings for an AT&T email account:

Server: smtp.mail.att.net

TLS/SSL: Checked

Port: 465 or 587

Username: your email account user name

Paassword: see below steps to create a secure email key

Reference: https://www.att.com/support/article/email-support/KM1010523/

Next, I suggest creating a secure mail key to allow the printer to access their server, I won't be surprised if this is due the latest security features added to their email server:

Now click Save & Test and check if you may see any difference.

If the error persists, is your printer connected to the network wirelessly, or with a wired Ethernet connection?
