When scanning to email using the document feeder I get a server failure error. How can I fix this? The problem just started as it was working yesterday.

Hi @Gina124,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I can provide some general troubleshooting steps that you can try to resolve the scanning to email server failure error on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-In-One Printer.

  • Check Internet Connection: Ensure that your printer is connected to the internet. You can do this by printing a network configuration or wireless network test report from the printer's control panel.
  • Restart the Printer: Turn off your printer, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on. This simple restart can sometimes resolve connectivity issues.
  • Check Email Configuration: Verify that the email settings on your printer are correct. Double-check the email address, username, password, and server settings. Make sure that the email provider's settings are entered accurately.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer. Visit the official HP website, locate your printer model, and download the latest firmware if available. Updating the firmware can address software-related issues.
  • Security Settings: Ensure that your email provider or network administrator hasn't changed security settings that might prevent the printer from connecting to the email server. Check if any security features like two-factor authentication are causing issues.
  • Check Email Server Status: Sometimes, email servers experience temporary issues. Verify that your email service is up and running without any disruptions.
  • Clear Email Queue: If there are any pending jobs in the printer's email queue, try clearing them. Go to the printer's control panel, navigate to the email settings, and look for an option to clear or cancel pending jobs.
  • Factory Reset (if necessary): As a last resort, you can consider performing a factory reset on your printer. This will reset all settings to their default values. However, be cautious as this will also remove any customized settings.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
