Hi @HazelWong ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're encountering some issues with your HP Color Laser MFP 179fnw printer/scanner, particularly with automatic scanning and the HP Twain scan.
Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve these issues:
- Check Connection: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your computer and that both devices are connected to the same network. If you're using a wireless connection, make sure the Wi-Fi signal is strong and stable.
- Update Drivers: Make sure you have the latest drivers and software installed for your printer. Visit the HP support website, enter your printer model, and download the latest drivers for Windows 11. HP Color Laser MFP 179fnw - Software & drivers
- Restart Devices: Sometimes, simply restarting both your computer and printer can resolve connectivity and scanning issues.
- Disable Firewall/Antivirus: Temporarily disable any firewall or antivirus software on your computer and try scanning again. Sometimes, these security programs can interfere with the scanning process.
- Check Settings: Ensure that the scanning settings on your printer are configured correctly. Double-check the scan to WSD settings and make sure they match the settings on your computer.
- Reset Printer: Try resetting your printer to its factory defaults. Refer to your printer's user manual for instructions on how to perform a reset.
- Reinstall Software: If none of the above steps work, try uninstalling the printer software from your computer and then reinstalling it. This can help fix any corrupt installation files that may be causing the issue.
