MFP 225dw
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

How do I get the MFP 222dw to scan through direct USB connection to printer.  It seems only to want to work through the network. Printing works fine, but it won't scan.

USB cable is fine, printing works, just not scanning.  Spent 1/2 hour with HP tech support (it's hard to find them, but once you do they're helpful), installing the drivers somehow failed to install the scanning driver, did that, now scanning works.

Thanks!

Hi,

How long the USB cable is?

Use a standard 1.8m USB High Speed cable.

Ensure the cabne is directly connected to yoru PC, not throug any USB hub or extensions.

Have you tried a different USB cable?

As you may scan throug the network the software is fine, it is more likely the USB cable itself which breaks the connection with the scanner.
