Hi @JbsApTaku,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
If you're encountering the "Invalid Credentials" error while setting up the scanner on your HP OfficeJet Pro 9730 Wide Format All-in-One Printer, here are the accurate troubleshooting steps specific to Windows:
Step 1: Verify Windows Folder Sharing Permissions
- Right-click on the shared folder (folder1) and select Properties.
- Go to the Sharing tab > Advanced Sharing > Permissions.
- Ensure user1 has Full Control (Read/Write/Modify).
- In the Security tab, also ensure user1 has Full Control.
Step 2: Ensure Proper Network Path
- Open Command Prompt on your computer.
- Type hostname and press Enter to confirm the correct Computer Name.
- In the printer's web console, ensure the Network Path is correctly entered in the format: \\COMPUTERNAME\folder1
- Verify the username is entered as: COMPUTERNAME\user1
Step 3: Validate Credentials
- Ensure user1 has a password. Windows does not allow network sharing with blank passwords.
- Log out of user1 and log back in to confirm the password is correct.
- Test connecting to the shared folder from another device using the same credentials.
Step 4: Disable Password Protected Sharing (Optional)
- Go to Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center.
- Click Change advanced sharing settings.
- Under All Networks, find Password Protected Sharing.
- Toggle it to Turn off password-protected sharing and save changes.
Step 5: Restart the Printer and Reconfigure the Contact
- Reboot both your PC and Printer.
- Remove the old contact from the printer's web console.
- Add a New Contact with the correct network path, username, and password.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
