You have a USB port on the bottom left side of a printer, insert a USB drive and scan directly to a USB drive from the printers front touch screen.

Remove the USB drive and check the scan on a computer. If the scanning to USB directly is fine without tint you have a computer/driver issue if the scan on USB is tinted then you have a defective scanner.

That's very helpful - thank you! 

Now it scans well if I do it through the HP Smart desktop app but it's still blue if I do it through the printer settings on Mac.  I can use the HP Smart app  - no problem - but it doesn't seem to have an option to combine all pages into one document like the mac version does.  Is there a way to do this on HP Smart?
