HP often updates the HP Smart app to maintain compatibility, which can resolve scanner connection issues that Windows' built-in drivers or older software struggle with.

  1. Uninstall Existing HP Software:

    • Press Windows Key + R, type appwiz.cpl, and hit Enter.

    • Find and uninstall any existing HP printer-related software for your DeskJet 2652.

    • Restart your PC.

  2. Download HP Smart:

    • Download and install the HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store.

  3. Add Your Printer:

    • Open the HP Smart app and follow the prompts to add your HP DeskJet 2652. It should guide you through establishing the connection (either Wi-Fi or USB).

  4. Scan from the App:

    • Once the printer is added, use the Scan function directly within the HP Smart app.

If the HP Smart app doesn't resolve the issue, you can try a clean reinstallation of the drivers:

  • Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor: Although HP is phasing it out, you can try to download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool, which can automatically diagnose and fix common printing and scanning problems.

  • Clean Driver Reinstallation:

    1. Unplug the printer's USB cable (if connected).

    2. Uninstall all HP software (as described in Step 1 above).

    3. Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners, find your printer, and select Remove.

    4. Press Windows Key + R, type printui.exe /s, and press Enter. Go to the Drivers tab and remove any entries for your HP printer.

    5. Restart your PC.

    6. Go to the official HP support website, search for the DeskJet 2652 drivers for Windows 11, and download/install the latest full software package.

    7. Only plug in the USB cable when the installer prompts you to do so (if using a USB connection).
