Hi,

I need help, this thing is driving me crazy. The last time I used this scanner was literally a few days ago and now its not working.

I am running Mac OS 10.11 El Capitan with HP Scanjet G4010, it's a plug-in via USB.

I went to HP site to maybe update the driver, it looks like one doesn't exist?

I unplugged and re-started twice and re-dowloaded the OS 10.10 driver, just in case and nothing.

If I launch image capture and the scanner pops up under devices, searches for a minute, then says "no camera or scanner connected."

Thanks!

Hi,

Any compatible OS listed within the download section, it is incompatible with El Capitan.

You may try the Yosemite drivers and check if these might work on the newer OS:

You may also give the 3rd party VueScan application a try, it seems to support your scanner with no need of additional drivers:

I've just had the same problem as the initial message described; System Preferences would see scanner when it was turned on, seem to await something from scanner, then say 'not available'. But VueScan worked like a charm!

I tried vuescan first and it worked right away. I didn't try the Yosemite driver download.

Thanks so much!!!!

yes but you have to buy it otherwise it prints with watermarks

Thanks for the lead, my scanner is not junk after all.

Although VueScan says that the slide/negative feature is supported, I get a flatbed scan of my slides (I did set the options for slides).

Has anyone used this sucessfully?

Are drivers available? HP says my serial number does not exist [edited], and cannot get on chat without a serial number

Image of flatbed rather than slides.

Vuescan advised me to use the 32 bit download - it worked.

Hi,

Your link to Yosemite driver is a dead link! Also, VueScan, is not free and also it is useless.

HP should come up with a proper solution and updates, it drivers to work with El Capitan.
