HP ENVY 6020e All-in-One Printer

Hi,

My HP6020e is very slow to react to print commands, but does it eventually, even after sending me an error message (could not be printed). Scanning does not work at all any more, I get the message that the scanner could not be found.

I have an HP Zbook, Windows 10

Hi @Evamo1

Welcome to the HP support community.

It sounds like you're encountering a couple of issues with your HP ENVY 6020e All-in-One Printer, specifically with slow print responses and scanning problems. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can take to resolve both of these issues:

1. Printer Not Responding or Slow to Print

Step 1: Check the Printer Connection

  • If using Wi-Fi, ensure the printer is still connected to the network and your laptop is on the same network.
  • Reboot your router and printer to refresh the network connection. Turn off the printer, wait 30 seconds, and then turn it back on.
  • If possible, try using a USB connection instead of Wi-Fi to eliminate network-related delays.

Step 2: Clear the Print Queue

Sometimes stuck print jobs in the queue can cause delays:

  • On your Zbook, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click your printer and select See what's printing.
  • Clear any stuck or pending print jobs.

Step 3: Update Printer Drivers, click here

  • Go to Device Manager on your Zbook (type "Device Manager" in the search bar).
  • Expand the Printers section, right-click on your printer, and select Update driver.
  • Alternatively, go to the HP website and download the latest printer driver for your HP ENVY 6020e.

Step 4: Check Printer Settings

  • If you're printing large files or high-resolution images, consider lowering the print quality to draft mode to speed up the printing process. This can be done in the Printer Settings when you try to print.
  • Check if the HP Smart app is up to date and ensure it is not conflicting with other software.

2. Scanning Not Working (Scanner Not Found)

Step 1: Check the Scanner Connection

  • Make sure the printer is properly connected to your network or via USB (if using USB). Check that the Wi-Fi or USB light is on and stable.
  • Restart the printer, laptop, and your router if necessary to refresh the connection.

Step 2: Run HP Print and Scan Doctor, click here

  1. Download and install the HP Print and Scan Doctor from the official HP website.
  2. Run the tool and select Fix Scanning. It will diagnose any problems with the printer/scanner connection and fix them automatically if possible.

Step 3: Reinstall the Printer Software, Click here

  • Uninstall the current HP printer software from your Zbook.
  • Restart your computer and reinstall the latest HP software from the HP website for the ENVY 6020e.
    • During the installation, ensure that the scanning software is selected to install along with the print drivers.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
