HP LaserJet Pro MFP M227fdw
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I used to be able to scan from the flat bed to a network folder and would be prompted after a page scanned to continue scanning additional pages, or select done if I were finished. I cannot find where to turn that feature back on. For example lets say I have document with 2 sides and I need to scan both sides and have it sent to a network folder as a single pdf.

@hughesb6, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding scanning issue!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I totally get how handy that prompt is when scanning multi-page documents — it’s like the printer gently asking, “Want to add another page?” before wrapping up.

For your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M227fdw on Windows 10, that feature usually comes from the scanning software, not just the printer driver. Here’s a quick way to check:

Open the HP Scan app on your PC.

Select Scan to Network Folder as your destination.

Look for a setting called “Scan Multiple Pages” or “Add Pages” — sometimes it’s a checkbox or a toggle.

Make sure that’s enabled so after each page, it asks if you want to scan more pages or finish.

Also, check if “Save as PDF” is selected so all pages get combined into one file.

If you don’t see these options, it might help to update or reinstall the HP Scan software from HP’s website — sometimes updates reset preferences or add missing features.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

I don't have those options or anything similar to it.

@hughesb6, I apologize for the inconvenience!

To scan multiple pages from the flat bed into a single document and save it to a network folder, you need to configure the Scan to Network Folder feature properly. When this feature is set up, you can select options that allow you to scan multiple pages and combine them into a single document. Follow the instructions below to set up and enable this feature.

Before You Begin

To set up the Scan to Network Folder feature, ensure the printer is connected to a network and you have administrative access. You'll need the following:

  • DNS suffix (e.g., companyname.com)
  • SMTP server (e.g., smtp.mycompany.com)
  • SMTP server authentication requirements (username and password)

Step One: Access the HP Embedded Web Server (EWS)

  1. From the Home screen on the printer control panel, touch the Information icon, and then touch the Ethernet icon to display the IP address or host name.
  2. Open a web browser and type the IP address or host name exactly as it displays on the printer control panel.
  3. Press Enter on your computer keyboard to open the EWS.

Step Two: Set Up Scan to Network Folder

Use one of the following methods to configure Scan to Network Folder.

Method One: Use the Scan to Network Folder Wizard

  1. Using the EWS top navigation tabs, click Scan/Digital Send.
  2. In the left navigation pane, click Email and Scan to Network Folder Quick Setup Wizards.
  3. Click the Save to Network Folder Quick Set Wizard link.
  4. On the Add or Remove a Save to Network Folder Quick Set dialog, click Add.
